The time that your counseling process will take depends on the complexity of your issues and your commitment and openness to your process. Just starting the counseling experience can cause a relief. Depending on your goals some issues can be resolved in just 2 or 3 sessions! Some may work through issues over a few months. Some may choose to be in counseling for years as a maintenance for mental health. Most clients tend to work on many complex issues so we let the client drive how long they choose to particpate.
We take most commercial insurances, Medicaid, and participate on several EAP panels. One can also pay out of pocket. Intake sessions are $150 and counseling session are $110. We on in the process of getting approved to take Medicare. We offer a special fee schedule for those on Medicare.
It all depends on what is going on with the client. A client in crisis may see the therapist once or twice a week. Once the initial crisis is defused and skills are built to cope and keep one relatively stable, we may move to an every other week schedule. We can even schedule of every three weeks. Once a client feels like they have met their goals, some may continue with counseling on a monthly basis or on an "as needed" basis in the name of maintenance. Many enjoy checking in and staying engaged in the counseling setting from just a few session to meeting with the counselor as needed for years.
